In 1938, NL batting champion Ernie Lombardi of the Cincinnati Reds was named National League MVP. He was the first catcher to win the award. Boston Red Sox 1st baseman Jimmie Foxx took AL award


In 1946, First Basketball Association of America game took place. New York Knicks beat Toronto Huskies 68-66 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto


In 1950, Celtics' forward Chuck Cooper became first African American to play in the NBA in Boston's 107-84 loss at Fort Wayne Pistons. Future Hall of Famer Bob Cousy also debuted for Celtics


In 1951, Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella won first of his 3 National League MVP awards



Sherwin Campbell

Sherwin Campbell who was born in 1970 is a former Barbadian cricketer. He played 52 Tests and 90 One Day Internationals for the West Indies. He was also a former ODI captain for Windies. Among his four Test centuries was a high score of 208 against New Zealand in the 1995–96.



VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman, who was born in 1974 is a former Indian international cricketer and a current cricket commentator. A right-hand batsman known for his elegant stroke play, Laxman played as a middle-order batsman in Test cricket.

Laxman shot to fame with an extraordinary knock of 281 in the second innings following on. He was originally named as the Icon Player for his home franchise Deccan Chargers before the first season of the IPL.
