In 1878, The first rugby match under floodlights took place in Salford, between Broughton and Swinton.


In 1966, Ice Hockey legend Bobby Orr scored his first career goal (vs Montreal Canadiens)


In 2000, German Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher won the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang which was his 4th straight race victory to finish the season; 3rd, and 1st of 5 straight F1 World Drivers Championships; which was won by 19 points from Mika Häkkinen.



Owais Shah

Owais Shah who was born in 1978 on this day is a former English cricketer. As a middle-order batsman, he played for Middlesex from 1996–2010. He played for Essex County Cricket Club from 2011 to 2013. He then announced his retirement from first-class cricket. He joined Hampshire for the NatWest t20 Blast in May 2014.
